About

The Chelmsford Law Clinic aims to provide free, independent, confidential and impartial legal advice to everyone within the community and surrounding areas of Chelmsford.

Founded as a fortnightly service based in the Civic Centre in Duke Street, Chelmsford run by a single volunteer for Family Law. Chelmsford Law Clinic was launched on 26 January 2018 by Vicky Ford (Chelmsford MP) and now offers specialist legal advice in eight areas of law, Civil Law Matters, Clinical Negligence, Contentious Trusts, Wills and Probate, Criminal Defence, Employment, Family, Housing, Immigration and Personal Injury Law by our pro bono solicitors and barristers.

As a long-term goal, the Clinic hopes to become a referral hub for a variety of local legal support organisations so that the Clinic can continue to ensure that you are supported throughout every step of your legal journey.

To learn more about other local legal organisations and events, go to our Community and Local Organisations pages.

The Clinic is open Tuesday and Friday: 09:00 – 16.30.

Our Service

You are welcome to contact us even if your case is not covered within our current areas of law as we may be able to point you in the right direction. Please go to Our Service for more information.

Please also check out our Local Organisations page to learn more about other local legal support charities and organisations that might be able to help you.

As we grow, we hope to expand into other legal areas such as wills and probate and criminal law on a permanent basis. However, this goal is dependent on establishing the demand for such a service as well as the availability of local law firms/solicitors.

The higher the demand, the easier it will be to justify our expansion. Help us, help you.
